Noun Project – Fort

The icon above was spawned by a debate with a co-worker about what symbolizes a fort. Since no icon yet existed at the Noun Project, I decided to submit it. The Noun project is an awesome resource of streamlined vector symbols. The site curators do a fantastic job of quality control. They smartly passed on my first submission, luckily I was already working on a more refined version. It will be interesting to see if the noun project implements an embed feature – ala @font-face.  Check it out - http://thenounproject.com/noun/fort/#icon-No1062.

Divvy Demo of Shortcuts

Divvy is a window manager for mac. This is a quick demo of the custom global shortcuts I use to make the app even more useful. Shortcuts: left half, right half, full screen, middle screen not full, mobile width (for responsive layout checking), 1/3 left, 1/3 middle, and 1/3 right.

Web Developer browser extension

Web developer is a fantastic little chrome browser extension with a ton of features.  It builds upon firebug and web inspector adding more features and tools to analyze a web page.  The ruler function is helpful, outline elements, validation, and browser resizing for checking page viewablity (fyi viewability is an new word).

Also check out these other useful extensions:
whatfont - tells you what information about fonts on screen with click
Ghostery - not really design or dev tool, but shows the tracking services on the page.
